The middle lug is connected to 10k then the trace goes to the pin 5 of the opamp. Q2 collector resistor is 8k2, the 470ohms as in a "stock" FF type circuit. The input coupling cap is 2,2uF, and judging by it's orientation, this FF is negative ground! The resistors between Q1's base and Q2's emitter is 62k, the electrolytic capacitor connected to the middle lug of the fuzz pot is 22uF, and the pot's 1st lug is not connected to the ground, instead it's connected to the diode and then to the ground! Q1 collector resistor is 4k7 and then connected to the one of the 50k trimmers. There is a TLE2022CP in the circuit also. I'll try to take photos of it in a couple of days, need to get a decent camera.Īnyways, the transistors have two labels_ I suspect that this unit has a buffer infront, and it's quite possible it works on negative ground, dunno about transistors, but if the "regular" FF type circuit is involved here, I think it uses 470ohm resistor between the bias resistors, since there was not much output from the pedal when the vol control was maxed out (around unity or maybe a bit of boost.).Īlso, I haven't experienced any temperature instability with this unit. I've built a couple of FF circuits in the last few years and all the bias trimmers acted quite the same, but in this unit - you could actually find a spot where the tone isn't overfuzzed and gnarly, but more of a distortion/overdrive type! I remember that I found that spot and used for some time, it had a FF character with nice tight low end (not farty) and you could actually play palm muted stuff with the pedal On the other hand, the dynamics were really good, I mean, the guitar's vol knob interaction with the pedal was really really good, and the tone with a "cleaned up vol pot" was balanced nicely, not too harsh and trebly, nor too bassy. It had a trimmer (at least one), and it acted quite strangely. I've been looking for the schem for some time (3 years), since I had this pedal once (borrowed) and still regret the day I had to give it back to my friend, who of course sold it, and now the guy that bought it, asks me to repair it, since it stopped working. maybe those added controls would be good for the spitfire as well. This offered the best headroom and a nice mild fuzz good for bluesy stuff. I dont really dig a dimed out fuzz sound, like with the Roger Mayer I fixed my favorite setting was the volume dimed and the fuzz set at minimum. idk if its really PNP b/c i plugged it into a regular boss ac adapter and it worked fine ( unless im ignorant about something, which I'm sure someone will let me know if I am) I was toying with the idea of trying to add some of the controls that the boutique fuzz from GGG like bias and contour and maybe a clean blend to the JH2S circuit to get some more versitility out of the vintage fuzz sound.

judging by the traces on the pc board there seems to be an IC in there as well. just popping the back off i noticed it has two trim pots for biasing the trannies.

he's one of those guys who has tons of gear and likes the prospects of mods but doesn't play well but has an ear for tone) anyways. My buddy has one but wouldn't let me take it apart to check out the pc ( especially since I told him it was discontinued. Here's a quick reference guide to the type and function of each unit.Well for what its worth, I think this is a pedal worth looking into.
